OUR SOLAR SYSTEM

THE MOVEMENTS OF THE EARTH

Rotation: The Earth spins on its axis. It causes days and nights and the Earth takes 24 hours (or 1 day) to spin completely around.

Revolution: The Earth orbits around the Sun. Because of Earth's tilted axis, this movement causes 4 different seasons. The Earth takes 365 days and 6 hours to complete an orbit around the Sun.

PHASES OF THE MOON

The Moon is Earth's natural satellite. It orbits the Earth as well as it rotates on its axis, the Moon takes 28 days to complete both movements.
The Moon reflects light from the Sun (like a mirror), and that is the reason why we can see different Moon phases.

LAYERS OF THE EARTH

Geosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere.

THE GEOSPHERE

Layer of metals and rocks that goes from the outside to its centre.

THE ATMOSPHERE

It is the layer of gases that surrounds the Earth and it is what makes life possible. It protects us from the Sun's radiation and it also keeps temperatures stable.
